The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the body responsible for the implementation of the new Package Travel Directive rules from 1st July this year, who suggested before Christmas that there would be further consultation with the trade, has now changed their mind and written to all parties to suggest they will advise any changes to the legislation after Easter.

This gives agents, operators and all other interested travel industry organisations virtually no time at all to adjust processes, back office systems, sales processes etc to prepare properly for the 1st July deadline.

The ludicrous nature of this whole process, where the CAA are merely pawns in the game, does nothing to help an industry trying to cope with a number of challenges being imposed this year. It's time for all interested travel bodies to come together and ensure one voice is heard in Government in those corridors of confusion.
