So, a few weeks in the role of SPAA President and my, what a busy time it has been, with lots of events and planning for 2020. Some great news too, like Loganair adding more flights and Qatar Airways going double daily from Edinburgh!
Festive sparkle - not just for Christmas
Well, Christmas is the time of Sparkle and Cheer, but let me tell you how you could be Sparkling in September. On Thursday 3rd September, the first SPAA Sparkle Awards will take place in the George Hotel in Edinburgh. This event will recognise the staff at the coal face of our industry in Scotland. There will be 10 Star categories in leisure and business travel, ranging from Top Seller to Manager of the Year. Line managers can nominate staff, and then all applicants will be voted for by our Associate Members. The 3 finalists in each category, and their line managers, will attend the star-studded Sparkle event in September, so there’s all to play for - make the most of Peaks!
Time off - a great Christmas present
Christmas time is all about spending time with family, friends and loved ones - and remembering those special people no longer with us. Too late, I realised the importance of time off at this magic time of year. The travel business is quieter in the lead up to Christmas, so in Love To Travel we will close on the 18th ‘til the 27th December.
I reap the benefits when we come back in January, as staff appreciate having that special time with family. It’s all about a work-life balance - something I feel at times we forget in Travel. So, this festive season look after each other, enjoy this special time and re-charge for what I reckon will be a busy January.
Merry Christmas to all, and here's to a Prosperous New Year!
